Lola D. Jones
June 16, 1937 — September 12, 2009
Lola Dell Jones, daughter of Howard A. And Zola Grace (Bamsey) Jones, was born on June 16, 1937, in Harlan, Iowa. She attended Shelby Schools in Shelby, Iowa and was a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ in Harlan.
Lola was very active with the women�s circle at the church. She could often be found in the kitchen helping with lunches and making noodles and coffee.
Lola worked at Shelby Produce, the Blue Star in Council Bluffs, and later at Harlan Produce. She also was a housekeeper for elderly people. Lola continued to work until her health declined.
Lola died on Friday, September 12, 2009, at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan, having attained the age of seventy-two years, two months, and twenty-six days. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Verle.
She is survived by her sister Bonnie Donaldson of Harlan; several nieces and nephews; cousins; other family members and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Pastor Donna Ewert officiated the 1:00 PM service with interment at the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, Iowa. Serving as casket bearers were: Steve Yates, LaVerne Holtmeyer, Eddy Roos, David Rhiner, Gene Wilwerding, and Larry Wunder.
