Lona (Sue) Mary Freese, born on January 17, 1961, passed away on November 19, 2024. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Lona was the daughter of Mary and Richard Daniel. She was married to her husband Leonard Ray Freese on June 9, 1979, at the Presbyterian church in Vail, Iowa. Together, they had two daughters, Krista Barry and Jenifer Rugaard and was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren Kaiden Barry, Treyton Barry, Tristan Barry, Clayton Rugaard, Spencer Freese and Alaska Rykhus and later in life Sue and Lenny gained a bonus daughter Jewel Nordby
Lona's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She cherished every moment she spent with them, creating lasting memories. One of her favorite pastimes was decorating her home for the Christmas holidays. Her creativity and attention to detail were evident as she transformed her home into a winter wonderland.
Lona had a passion for muscle cars and art. She also enjoyed listening to rock and roll music, which energized her and made her feel young at heart.
After a successful career at Snappy Popcorn, Lona made the decision to retire in 2021. She dedicated her time and effort to creating a warm and welcoming environment for customers and employees alike. Her positive attitude and infectious laughter made the workplace more enjoyable for everyone.
Lona will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Daniel and Mary Daniel; brother, Mark Lewis, grandson, Spencer Freese nephew, Zachary Freese; father-in-law Leonard "Doc" Freese; and brother-in-law, Roger Miller.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard "Lenny" Freese; daughters, Krista Barry (Nathan) of Manilla, Jenifer Rugaard (special friend Curtis) of Audubon; grandchildren, Kaiden Barry, Treyton Barry, Tristan Barry, Clayton Rugaard, Alaska Rykhus and Jewel Nordby; brothers, Rod Lewis, Sean Daniel (Jessica), Tim Daniel (Lydia); sister, Tammy Miller; brother-in-law, Rob Freese (Corrine) Randy Freese (Lori); sister-in-law, Grace Walker (Dave), Sherri Osterkamp (Steve); mother-in-law, Shirley Freese; and a very special family friend, Kathy Freese
