She was baptized and confirmed in her Christian Faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stockholm Township, Kiron, Iowa. Loretta was raised on the farm near Boyer and received her elementary education in the Stockholm Number 10 rural school at Boyer. She then made her home with an aunt in Fort Dodge where she attended her freshman and sophomore years before they moved to Cherokee where she completed her high school education, graduating with the class of 1939. Following high school she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls where she received her teaching certificate. From the fall of 1940 until the spring of 1945, Loretta taught in the rural schools in Stockholm and Jackson Townships.On February 21, 1942, Loretta was united in marriage with Roscoe Anderson in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Boyer where their union was blessed with three children: Norma, Ronald and Rosalie. Loretta spent her adult married life as a busy homemaker, lovingly caring for her family.Roscoe died May 25, 1973. Following her husband’s death Loretta went to work for Dr. David Anderson in Odebolt in 1974 until retiring in 1983.In her leisure hours Loretta enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, working crossword puzzles and spending time with family and friends. She was a great lover of animals and, in earlier years, she enjoyed horseback riding.Loretta was a life time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of their Ladies Aid, and was a member of the Boyer Ladies Aid.Loretta died at her home Sunday evening, March 1, 2015, having been blessed with 93 years, 3 months and 15 days.Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Annie Koch and her husband, Roscoe Anderson.Those remaining to cherish her memory include three children: Norma and husband Robert Sogge of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ronald and wife Novia Anderson of Sparks, Nevada, and Rosalie and husband Mark Eimer of Cambridge, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: Jeffrey and wife Kimberly Sogge and their daughter Madison Sogge of Marshalltown, Iowa, Christopher and wife Lori Sogge and sons Jorgen and Clayton Sogge of Clemmons, Iowa, Michael Sogge and wife Jessica of Des Moines, Iowa, Thomas Eimers of Muscatine, Iowa, Daniel Eimers and Elizabeth Eimers, both of Cambridge, Iowa; one brother Loel Koch of Denison, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kiron, Iowa, with the Rev. Merle Mahnken officiating. Music for the service included three congregational hyms of “Savior, I Follow On”, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” with Lois Gronau serving as organist. Pallbearers were Loretta’s grandchildren: Jeffrey Sogge, Christopher Sogge, Michael Sogge, Thomas Eimers, Daniel Eimers and Elizabeth Eimers. Private family interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Stockholm Township, Kiron, Iowa. Following the services the family invited everyone to join them at the church for fellowship and a luncheon provided by the St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid.
