Loretta Bjustrom

Wava Loretta Bjustrom, daughter of Edwin and Anna (Van Dyne) Ward, was born on April 13, 1930 in Powersville, Missouri. She attended Unionville High School and graduated with the class of 1948 After graduation she attended Truman State University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
On December 17, 1955, Loretta was united in marriage to Donald Bjustrom at the Faith Lutheran Church in Harcourt, Iowa. To this union they had 3 children: Debra, Gregory and Cynthia.
Loretta spent over 40 years teaching in various places and school districts including: Des Moines, IA; Fort Dodge, IA; Kansas City, KS; Guttenberg, IA; Shell Rock, IA; Renwick, IA; and 27 years in Oakland, Iowa. She was a teacher by trade but enjoyed crafting, sewing and gardening.
On Saturday, October 22, 2022, with her loving family by her side, Loretta passed away at her home having attained the age of 92 years, 6 months and 9 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; brother Edwin; and son-in-law Brian Hopkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Deb Hopkins of Avoca, Iowa; Greg Bjustrom of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Cindy (Luke) Claussen of Avoca, Iowa 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; other family and many friends.
