Lorie C. Anderson Profile Photo
Lorie Christine Anderson, daughter of Raymond John and Shirley (Mueller) Schuett, was born on December 17, 1949 in Naperville, Illinois. As a small child she loved all four legged creatures and, as she grew, she developed a particular love for purebred Arabian horses. She attended school in Geneva , Illinois and graduated from Geneva High School with the class of 1968.

On May 17, 1975, Lorie was united in marriage to Terry Lee Anderson in Geneva, Illinois. They were the parents of three children: Chad, Jaime and Matthew. Shortly after their marriage, Lorie and Terry made their home just outside of Minden, Iowa. They spent their entire married life there—raising children and eventually entertaining grandchildren. During their early years, Lorie worked at the Kopper Kettle, the Minden Meat Market and Leadway in Shelby, Iowa.

In 1987, Lorie began her career at Tri-Center Elementary school part time and eventually began working full time there in 1992 doing custodial work as well as becoming the head cook at the elementary school. Known by the children as “Miss Lorie”, she loved the school children—“her kids”--and often took them under her wing in the kitchen as helpers to help build their self esteem. She always decorated the bulletin board in the kitchen and made sure the entire lunch room sang “Happy Birthday” to students who had birthdays. She was famous for giving hugs and she loved nothing more than getting them back. Lorie was also known for having a big heart and always willing to do anything to help others in any way she could. Lorie was a very loving and caring mother. Her children were always her pride and joy. Nothing could compare, though, to her joy at becoming Grandma Lorie and every moment she spent with her 3 grandsons since that day.

Lorie died surrounded by her family at her home on Thursday, September 25, 2014 in Minden, Iowa, having attained the age of sixty-four years, nine months and eight days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Terry in 2011 and her son Matthew in 2001.

She is survived by her son Chad Anderson and his wife Jessica of Harlan, Iowa; daughter Jaime Anderson of St. Paul, MN; grandsons: Nicholas, Daniel, and Christian Anderson all of Harlan; brother Scott Schuett and his wife Pam of Springfield, Illinois, one niece, Jennifer Lilly, other relatives, many friends and the thousands of children whose lives she touched throughout her many years at Tri-Center.
