GRAVESIDE MEMORIAL SERVICE AND INURNMENT:10:30 A.M., SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 2015OAKLAND CEMETERY, DENISON, IOWA.NO VISITATION Louise Greene Osterlund was born at Woodbine, Iowa, November 9, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Marion Boyd Pelton. She was raised in Woodbine where she received her education graduating from the Woodbine High School with the class of 1937. Following high school she moved to Denison and was employed at Cronk’s. On December 20, 1939, Louise was united in marriage with H. Pershing Greene at Smithland, Iowa. They made their home in Denison where their union was blessed with one son, Kim who died at age 7 months, and one daughter Candice Lou. They moved to Omaha when Pershing entered the service and Louise attended Burroughs Training for one year. After Pershing’s honorable discharge in 1944 they returned to Denison. Louise was employed at First National Bank in Denison and from 1961 until her retirement in 1982, she was employed at Denison Home Federal. Pershing died October 14, 1966 and Louise remained in Denison where on May 25, 1968, she was united in marriage with Melvin Osterlund. They made their home in Denison and Louise continued her employment at Denison Home Federal. Melvin died October 14, 1992. Louise enjoyed her retirement years in Denison where she was a community and church volunteer. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison, United Methodist Women and delivered the weekly church bulletin to shut-ins and nursing home residents. She was a former member and Past Worthy Matron of the former Olive Branch Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Vail, served as County Chairperson for the American Cancer Society and delivered Meals on Wheels to area residents. Louise died Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2015, at the Denison Care Center, Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 95 years and five months. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: H. Pershing and Melvin; infant son Kim, and daughter; Candice Lou McGlade. Those remaining to cherish her memory include a nephew, Bill Greene and wife Linda of Ames, Iowa, step-grandson Tony Osterlund of Cincinnati, Ohio, step-granddaughter Barb Miller of Afton, Iowa, other relatives and friends. Graveside Memorial Services and Inurnment was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating.
