Louise E Scherff

Louise Emma Scherff was born in Charter Oak Township, Crawford County, Iowa, on March 22, 1922, the daughter of Fritz and Louise Timm Brandenburg. She was baptized on April 16, 1922, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, and was confirmed in 1935. She attended country school in Charter Oak.
Louise was united in marriage with Willis “Bill” Scherff on March 14, 1941. They made Denison their home in 1944. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Michael and Robert Scherff, both of Denison.
She began her employment at Montgomery Ward, then moved to Anthony’s Department Store, both in Denison. Louise was a Den Mother for her boys while they were in Cub Scouts. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid at Zion Lutheran Church and was secretary for one year.
Louise loved attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s numerous sports activities and concerts. When her boys were younger, many great memories were made taking them fishing. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and spending time with her family.
Louise passed away July 12, 2018 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa. She had attained the age of 96 years, 3 months and 20 days.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Willis Scherff; her parents, Fritz and Louise Brandenburg; and ten siblings: Carl, Henry, Fred, Edgar, and John Brandenburg, Marie Bastman, Frieda Silva, Wilhelmina Wolterman, Adele Dozark and Esther Christiansen.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Michael Scherff of Denison and Robert Scherff and his wife Cindy of Denison; four grandchildren: Justin Scherff, Kristin Henry and husband Adam, Brandon Scherff and wife Jenni, and Megan Scherff; five great grandchildren: Jackson, Grayson and Kennedy Scherff, Owen Henry and Easton Scherff; other relatives and friends.
