Louree Ann Petersen was born on January 28, 1943, to Gerald and Mena (Andersen) Greiner in Harlan, Iowa. She graduated from Harlan Community High School in 1961 and, at the age of 40, attended Iowa Western Community College where she earned her LPN degree.
Louree was united in marriage to Glen Petersen on April 26, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska. Two daughters were born to this union: Lisa and Lila.
Louree worked as a home health aide for Myrtue Medical Center. For many years, Louree showed compassionate care and professionalism towards her clients and enjoyed helping them with their daily activities. On February 1, 2008, after twenty-three years of service, Louree entered into retirement.
She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles but what she loved the most was spending time with her family and her friends.
Louree died on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, having attained the age of sixty-five years, one month, and six days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Louree is survived by her daughters: Lisa and her husband Jamie Hess of Spencer, Iowa, and Lila and her husband Aaron Howe of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren: Megan and Hayle Hess of Spencer; other family members and many friends.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 22, 2008 at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Pastor David Peterson officiated the 11:00 AM service. Casket bearers were Eldon Erickson, Larry Andersen, Brian Peterson, Allen Bruck, Lyle Behrens, and Sonny Goans with interment held at the Harlan Cemetery.
