Lucille M. Lue Miller
January 27, 1925 — January 6, 2009
Lucille Margaret Miller was born on January 27, 1925, to Earl and Florence (Camenisch) Shriver in Neola, Iowa, and spent the first twenty years of her life on farms around Shelby, Iowa. She attended Shelby Consolidated School and graduated with the Class of 1944.
She was united in marriage to Verrow L. "Butch" Miller on April 15, 1944. They spent their entire married life in Persia, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union: Stanley, Glenn "Bubba", and Gale "Chub".
Lucille attended Iowa Western Community College of Nursing from 1967 to 1968. She worked as a nurse at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital for eighteen years.
Lucille was known as "Lue" to her friends while her kids were growing and as "Lucy" to the nurses and doctors she worked with at the hospital. She was Lucille to her family and close friends.
She enjoyed nature and being outdoors, digging in the dirt in the garden and her flowerbeds, watching birds, and canning. She was an avid quilter and loved to go antiquing. She also spent numerous hours researching family genealogy.
Lucille died on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, having attained the age of eighty-three years, eleven months, and ten days. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Elyse Miller, her brother Elmer Shriver, sister Shirley Hoover,, nephew Roger Bladt, sister-in-law Neta Shriver, and brother-in-law Eugene Bladt.
She is survived and will be missed by her husband of sixty-four years, Butch Miller of Persia, Iowa, her sons: Stanley Miller and his wife Linda of Loveland, Colorado, Glenn "Bubba" Miller of Richmond, California, and Gale "Chub" Miller and his wife Denise of Persia, Iowa; three grandchildren: Kelsey Miller of Omaha, Nebraska and Nathan and Ian Miller of Persia; her brothers: Harold Shriver of Persia and Ralph Shriver and his wife Irene of Macedonia, Iowa; sister-in-law Alice Shriver of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Persia, Iowa. Pastor Orris Drake officiated the 11:00 AM service. Interment was held at Valley View Cemetery in Persia with Stan Miller, Glenn "Bubba" Miller, Gale "Chub" Miller, Kelsey Miller, Nathan Miller, and Ian Miller serving as casket bearers.
