Lucille Marie Neve, daughter of Henry and Marie (Blum) Nelson, was born on December 24, 1919 in Underwood, Iowa. She graduated from Neola High School with the class of 1937.
Lucille married Lyle Neve on June 7, 1940 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Dwayne, Virginia and Janice.
Lucille enjoyed flowers, sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles and board games. She was a dedicated housewife and a 56- year-member of Hancock United Methodist Church. Lucille was known for trying new recipes for the pot lucks at church. She was also involved in Bunco Club, Federated Club of Hancock, UM Women and Garden Club of Hancock.
Lucille died at Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center in Avoca, Iowa on January 1, 2011 having attained the age of ninety-one years and eight days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle, a son Dwayne, granddaughter Tanya Lee Minnick and great-granddaughter Cassidy Marie Dethlefs.
She is survived by her two daughters Virginia and her husband Wayne Nelsen of Avoca, Iowa and Janice and her husband Boyd Minnick of Franklin, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Jill and her husband Roger Dethlefs of Omaha, Nebraska, Jodi and her husband Dave Osborn of Omaha, DaNay Minnick of Mission, Kansas and Sean Minnick of U.S. Navy - Greece; three great-grandchildren: Connor and Tessa Dethlefs and Angel Minnick; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rev. Melissa Drake officiated the 1:00 P.M. funeral service on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Hancock United Methodist Church. Interment was held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Hancock with Wayne Nelsen, Dave Osborn, Roger Dethlefs, Connor Dethlefs, Boyd Minnick and Steve Guyer serving as casket bearers.
