Lynn Donald Bishop was born on July 28, 1951 to Richard and Bonnie (Clayton) Bishop in Red Oak, Iowa. The family moved to Oakland, Iowa where Lynn graduated from high school with the Class of 1969.
He enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1970 to 1978 aboard the USS Saratoga. After his honorable discharge, he enrolled at the University of Maryland where he studied Computer Science. He had recently enrolled at Liberty University to finish working on his Bachelor’s degree in Theology.
Lynn was a Computer Programmer working as a project manager for the Federal Government. He enjoyed all sorts of woodworking projects, collecting vintage cars, living in the country and gardening.
When his health forced him to retire, he moved back to Iowa about four years ago and continued living in his home enjoying his hobbies. He died at his country home on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 having attained the age of sixty-two years, six months, and fifteen days. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister Linda.
He is survived by his children: Jennifer and her husband John Puhak of Olathe, Kansas, Danny Bishop of Virginia, and Ronnie Bishop of Virginia; two grandchildren: Josilyn and Sammy; brothers David Bishop of Muscatine, Iowa and Allen Bishop of Chadwick, Missouri; other family members and friends.
