Marcia Jean Lucke was born on March 4, 1950 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Scena (Nielsen) Lucke and was one of four children in the family. She was baptized at the Congregational Church in Minden, Iowa and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. Marcia attended grade school in the Minden Public Schools. The family then moved to the Shelby/Avoca area and Marcia graduated from AvoHa High School with the class of 1969.
Marcia was employed as a nurses aide in the nursing home and also cleaned homes in the area. She enjoyed doing handwork such as crocheting. Because of a health disability, she retired in 1995. She was a resident of the Harlan, Iowa community in past years.
Marcia died on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa. She had attained the age of fifty six years, ten months and seventeen days. She is preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Robert.
Marcia is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Lange of Ord, Nebraska; a brother, Bill Lucke and his wife, Babetta, of Persia, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, Iowa with Pastor Dennis Reich as the clergy. Serving as pall bearers were Rick Rauert, Rodney Veskerna and Nolan Veskerna. Interment was held in the Minden Cemetery, Minden, Iowa.
