Marcia L. Ploen
March 12, 1951 — April 17, 2018
Marcia Lynn Ploen was born on March 12, 1951 in Madison, Tennessee to Jim and Emily (Rodgers) Lemons. She was one of four children. She was baptized and confirmed at United Church of Christ in Minden, Iowa. She attended Avoca High School for 3 years prior to graduating from Tri Center with the class of 1969.
On October 4, 1969, Marcia was united in marriage to Steven Ploen at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Neola, Iowa. From this union, four children were born: Shawn, Sonja, Shanda and Shaya. She was primarily a stay-at-home mom but she enjoyed her time working as the “lunch lady” for the Underwood High School. She was a member of the Minden Auxillary and the Minden Flame Dames.
Marcia loved her family more than anything; especially spending time with her fifteen grandchildren. She had a special bond with her two dogs, Fred and Chloe. She enjoyed having “deck parties”, golfing, and the outdoors; only if it were above 80 degrees. Marcia had a heart of gold with a great sense of humor.
Marcia passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, attaining the age of sixty seven years, one month and five days. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Steven Ploen and in-laws Billy and Evelyn Ploen.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Shawn Ploen and his children: Justin, Allyson and Madison of Minden, IA; Sonja (Andy) Rasmussen and their children: Wyatt, Marshall, Tallin, Grason, and Dyson of Underwood, IA; Shanda (Chad) Heilig and their children: Madeline, Ashlyn, Kylynn, Joslin and Brooklyn of Avoca, IA; Shaya (Josh) Zacharias and their children: Carson and Callie of Eaton, Colorado; sisters: Patricia Paulsen of Council Bluffs, IA; Jimmie Darlene “Toe” (Lynn) Driver of Neola, IA; Thressa “TeeCee” (Randy) Petersen of Logan, IA; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends.
