Margaret Mary Heese was born on April 1, 1930 to James and Margaret (Bevins) Connelly in Omaha, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Omaha and attended St. John’s Elementary School. She graduated from Marian High School with the Class of 1948.
On October 25, 1950, Margaret was united in marriage to Albert “Bert” Heese at St. John’s Catholic Church in Omaha. There were ten children born to them: Mike, Tom, Kathleen, Ann, Tim, Maureen, Patrick, John, Margaret “Peggy”, and James.
Margaret kept busy raising the children and keeping up with their activities. She worked with the local Democratic Party and once hosted a tea for Edward Kennedy that was attended by Ethel Kennedy at her home in Earling. She was a life-long member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling.
She had been living in Las Vegas near her children when she died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Margaret had attained the age of eighty-two years, ten months, and five days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Mike and Tim, brother James Connelly and sisters Catherine “Sweetsies” Cabo and Mary “Babe” Strawn.
She is survived by her children: Tom Heese and his wife Carol of Denver, Colorado, Kathleen and her husband Dennis Larson of Earling, Iowa, Ann Heese of Las Vegas, Nevada, Maureen Ryon of Herman, Nebraska, Patrick Heese and his wife Cyndi of Tyler, Texas, John Heese of LeMars, Iowa, Margaret “Peggy” and her husband Larry Calavan of Las Vegas, and James “Jim” Heese of Las Vegas; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.
