Margaret Kuhl

Margaret Kuhl was born on the farm at Manning, Iowa, March 27, 1915, the daughter of Emil and Pearl Esycheck Jennings. She was raised at Manning where she graduated from high school with the class of 1933. She furthered her education at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, before receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1968. Margaret began her thirty eight year teaching career in the rural schools of Carroll County before teaching in the communities of Arcadia, Manilla and Perry. On June 24, 1956, Margaret was united in marriage with Robert L. Kuhl at the United Methodist Church in Manning, Iowa. They made their home in Denison where Margaret spent the last twenty four years of her elementary and remedial reading teaching career in the Denison Community Schools, retiring in 1977. Robert died December 6, 1980, and Margaret continued to make her home in Denison. Margaret enjoyed her memberships in the First United Methodist Church in Denison, United Methodist Women, Beta Sigma Phi of which she served as president, Crawford County Retired Teachers Association, Iowa State Education Association, Friday Club, A.A.U.W. and the Manning American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed socializing with friends and family, reading, attending plays, bus tours, when her health permitted, and tutoring to help others read and understand. In 2008, Margaret moved to the Louisville Care Center in Louisville, Nebraska, and that is where her death occurred Saturday afternoon, February 6, 2010. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 94 years, 10 months and 9 days. Including her parents, Emil and Pearl Jennings, and her husband, Robert Kuhl, Margaret was also preceded in death by one grandson, Robert Mericle. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her daughter Mary Rezac and husband, Ron, of Omaha, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren: Linda, and husband, Randy Konfrst of Omaha, Nebraska; Richard Mericle and wife, Erin of Weston, West Virginia; and Barbara Mericle of Omaha, Nebraska; 7 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
