Margaret Edith Selander was born at Denison, Iowa, July 15, 1917, the daughter of George W. and Anna Jacobson Selander. With the exception of a few years spent in Dayton, Iowa, Margaret was raised in Denison where she was graduated from high school. Following high school she furthered her education at the University of Iowa for two years. After completion of her education Margaret returned to Denison where she was employed at Denison Federal Savings and Loan for many years before completing her financial career at Crawford County Bank from which she retired in 1982. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bridge and socializing with friends and family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison. Margaret died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the Reed House in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 90 years, 2 months and 26 days. Including her parents, Margaret was also preceded in death by one brother, William Selander. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her nephew, James G. Selander of Glendale, Arizona, cousins, Bob Selander of Omaha, Nebraska, James R. Jacobson of Athens, Georgia and Jon Jacobson of Blue Springs, Missouri, one sister-in-law, Genevieve Ginger of Cottonwood, Arizona, other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Music for the service included recorded selections of "How Great Thou Art" and "Nearer My God To Thee". Following the service the family invited everyone to join them at Cronks in Denison for fellowship and lunch. A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church and the Norelius Community Library in Denison.
