Marijean Ahrenholtz, daughter of Harry E. and Annajean (Errett) Ahrenholtz, was born on September 1, 1946, in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Defiance, Iowa and attended grade school in Kirkman, Iowa before moving to Red Oak, Iowa.

In 1960, Marijean moved to Glenwood, Iowa, where she resided for several years in a group home before moving to Missouri Valley in 1978 where she remained until 1981 when she moved back to Glenwood. In 1990, Marijean moved to a group home in Red Oak before moving to the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center in Red Oak, Iowa, in 2005.

Marijean enjoyed music and loved to sing at church services and listen to her radio. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at the group home. She was active in the church services at the group home and enjoyed taking part in the Bible studies as well. Marijean’s family was very important to her and she enjoyed receiving letters from them and talking to them on the telephone. When her family would send Marijean a letter, she always said "send a little cash." Marijean was a people person and enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with those around her.

Marijean died on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center having attained the age of sixty-three years, six months, and one day. She is preceded in death by her father, Harry E. Ahrenholtz; her brothers Jack and Craig; and her sister Cynthia.

She is survived by her mother, Annajean Ahrenholtz of Harlan, Iowa; her siblings: Harry Ahrenholtz, Jr. and his wife Carol of Jefferson, Iowa; Roger Ahrenholtz and his wife Peg of Manilla, Iowa; Annette and her husband John Kloewer of Defiance, Iowa; Jane and her husband Richard Carey of Tucson, Arizona; Clark Ahrenholtz and his fiancé Susan of Elk Horn, Iowa; her nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Ted Sieck officiating the 2:00 PM service. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, with Sara Kloewer, Camilla Ahrenholtz, Susan Kloewer, Tracy Ahrenholtz, and Tabitha Ahrenholtz acting as honorary casket bearers. Serving as casket bearers were: Ted Ahrenholtz, Michael Ahrenholtz, Todd Ahrenholtz, Scott Ahrenholtz, Justin Ahrenholtz, and Troy Ahrenholtz.
