Marilyn Beth Argotsinger was born on a farm in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, May 21, 1929, the daughter of Eldridge and Virgil Marie Darling Winey. During her formative years the family moved to Deloit where she received her education graduating from the Deloit High School with the class of 1946. She then furthered her education at Business School in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1947. On March 30, 1949, Marilyn was united in marriage with Wendell Argotsinger in Maryville, Missouri. Their union was blessed with two sons, Terry and Dean. They made their home briefly on a farm in Milford Township before moving to the E.A. Norelius Farm at Kiron, Iowa, where they resided for fifteen years. In 1966, Wendell and Marilyn purchased their present farm north of Denison. In addition to being a busy farmwife and mother, Marilyn was employed as a secretary for E.A. Norelius Law Office in Denison, Denison Community Schools and for the County Superintendent, Dr. Coen, and was a Census Supervisor for Crawford County. In her spare time she enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, reading, antiquing and attending auctions where she was often consulted for her knowledge of antiques by area professionals. Marilyn loved music, playing the piano, listening to music, especially the violin, and music that was provided by her grandchildren. She was a long time member of the Deloit Methodist Church and, upon its’ closing, transferred her membership to First United Methodist Church in Denison and was a charter member of the McHenry House in Denison. Marilyn died Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011, at the Reed House in Denison, Iowa, where she had resided since February of this year. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 82 years, 3 months and 16 days. In addition to her parents, Eldridge and Virgil Winey, Marilyn was also preceded in death by one brother, Kay Winey. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband, Wendell Argotsinger of Denison, Iowa, two sons: Terry Argotsinger and wife, Barb of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Dean Argotsinger and wife, Beth of Denison, Iowa; six grandchildren: Kimberly and husband, Randy Juhl of Adams, Minnesota, Corinne and husband, Travis Mattson of Ames, Iowa, Katy and husband, Eric Fassnacht of Cleveland, Ohio, Eric Argotsinger of Grimes, Iowa, Lori and husband, Brian Jones of Westminster, Colorado and Keri and husband, Aric Zimmer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six great grandchildren: Alex, Ellie, Owen, Connor, Quinton and Clara, and another great grandson due in October; one brother, James Winey and wife, Karen of North Oaks, Minnesota; one sister, Barbara and husband John Willey of Belgrade, Maine; sister-in-law, Colleen Winey of Atlantic, Iowa; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Beverly and Merle Dumdei of Carnavan, Iowa, and Vera and Roland Talcott of Kiron, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
