Marilyn Holdren

Marilyn Pauline Holdren, the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Findlay) Peterson, was born August 9, 1927, in Rural Harlan, Iowa. She was raised on her family’s farm and attended the Congregational Church in Harlan. Marilyn attended country school in Shelby County, Iowa and graduated from Harlan High School in Harlan, Iowa. Her family moved to Oakland, California for a short time but moved back to Harlan where she worked at Gibson Skate Rink.
Marilyn found the love of her life when she met Clarence Holdren. They were joined in marriage on September 15, 1946. To this marriage, their twin sons, Terry and Larry Holdren were born. Clarence and Marilyn were blessed to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Clarence passed away in November 1996.
Marilyn died on October 11, 2022, at Avoca Specialty Care in Avoca, Iowa attaining the age of 95 years, 2 months and 2 days. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mildred Peterson; husband, Clarence Holdren; son Larry Holdren; her brother Harry Peterson Jr.; and her sisters Darlene Reed and Blanche Burmeister.
She is survived by her son Terry (Judi) Holdren of Harlan, IA; grandchildren Michelle Holdren of Culver City, CA; Laurie (Chris) Casson of Boulder, CO; and Sarah Kelne of St. John’s, FL; great-grandchildren Madelyn Holdren, Kiersten Kelne, Connel Casson and Adler Casson; other family members and friends.
