Marilyn Bernice Jensen was born on November 27, 1936 to Soren and Mabel (Madsen) Jensen in Jackson Township, Shelby County, Iowa. In 1937, the family moved to a farm in Center Township where she attended country school, Kirkman school, and graduated with the Class of 1957 from Irwin-Kirkman High School. She continued to live at home after graduation doing babysitting jobs and later mowing lawns.
In June of 1999, Marilyn moved to the Westridge Apartments in Harlan, where she thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her friends and neighbors. She liked crafts and would make beautiful greeting cards out of recycled cards to send to her friends. She was a very faithful woman who gave of herself to those in need. As her parents’ health failed, she stepped in to take care of them.
Marilyn became a resident of Little Flower Haven nursing home in Earling, Iowa which is where she died on Monday, September 21, 2015 having attained the age of seventy-eight years, nine months, and twenty-five days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her brothers Harold Jensen of Denver, Colorado and Gerald Jensen of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews; her close friends; and other family members.
