Marion Elizabeth Rosman, daughter of Nick and Marie (Happe) Konz, was born on July 27, 1922, in Hartington, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church In Hartington and graduated from Holy Trinity High with the class of 1939. After high school, she graduated from Registered Nurses training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa in 1945.
After graduating from nurses training, Marion moved to Minneapolis and then to Los Angeles where she continued her nursing profession. In 1954, she moved to Omaha and began working at a private doctor’s office. While in Omaha, she met her future husband, Gene, at a Valentine’s Day dance.
On January 13, 1962, she was united in marriage to Gene Rosman at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Omaha. Two children were born to this union: John and Mary Jean. After their wedding, Marion and Gene made their home west of Harlan on the Rosman family farm.
Marion was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan and was very active with St. Michael’s Guild.
Marion died on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, having attained the age of eighty-six years, six months, and twenty-one days. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Dorothy Olson, Jack Konz, and twin infant sisters.
She is survived by her husband Gene of Harlan; their children John Rosman of Harlan and Mary and her husband Paul Zdechlik of Edina, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Grace, Charlie, and Amelia; her brother Robert Konz and his wife Mary of Phoenix, Arizona; her sister-in-law Gert Vonderheide of Hartington, Nebraska; her brother-in-law Kenneth Olson and his wife Char of St. Paul, Minnesota; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan, Iowa. Rev. Bob Hoefler celebrated the 10:30 AM service. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa with Mike Konz, David Konz, Bob Olson, Leo Lapke, Michael Jirkovsky, and Pat Kirlin serving as casket bearers.
