Mark was born on December 30, 1960 in Omaha, NE. His parents were William and Henrietta (Lorence) Haynes. He was raised in Gretna Nebraska along with five brothers Bill, Rick, Dale, Tom, and Tracy. Mark attended Gretna Elementary and High School.
After school he joined the Army Reserves being part of The 64 Charlie Motor Transport Operators with the 172 Rollins in Omaha. After serving he went into the auto mechanic industry, working in various auto fields. In 1996, Mark began working for Variety Distributors in Harlan, IA holding several positions within the company. Due to Mark's health and diagnosis he was unable to continue working and had to resign after 27 years. During Mark's journey of life he had six children, Jessica, Mark, Jennifer, Steven, Brent, and Rebecca. From those loving children Mark had fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Some of the things Mark enjoyed the most were golfing, fishing, bowling leagues, garage sales and thrifting. He liked playing a variety of card games from poker to cribbage and canasta. He was very fond of watching the NASCAR races with Traci on Sundays with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt Sr. Mark had a talent for fixing or diagnosing issues with small engines and vehicle troubles. Many times he would receive calls from family, friends, neighbors, or complete strangers that was referred to him and his knowledge before ever taking the vehicles to the local mechanics. Nine times out of time he was right although once in a while he would have to bring out the code reader, or phone his friend Jason. He was honored to work on them with nothing in return.
Often times you would find Mark on a golf course with his brothers or grandkids, and if he wasn't swinging the clubs, he would occasionally be pulling the handle on a slot machine at the casino. More times than not walking out with less than he walked in with but that didn't matter to him it was always about the quality time spent with his loved ones. Mark admired being around his kids and grandkids, you could find them playing golf, baseball or bowling on the Wii, putting puzzles together, or taking everyones quarters during card games, at the family gatherings. Mark had a great ear for good music. He would sing along to any tune playing on the radio. His favorite music was country and classic rock and roll. But nothing ever topped Trace Atkins Badonkadonk. He would drive around with the windows down and the wind in his hair with the radio cranked up anytime this song came on… Honky Tonk Badonkadonk. Mark was a jack of all trades but the best trait he had was always lending a helpful hand to anyone in need.
Mark passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024 in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of 63 years, 9 months, and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henrietta and William Haynes, and brother, Dale Haynes.
