Marvelann Fryar

MarvelAnn Fryar was born at Rinard, Iowa, May 14, 1933, the daughter of Clyde and Fern McPhearson Goodwin. She received her education at Rockwell City where she was graduated from high school with the class of 1951. Following graduation she was employed at Horn Manufacturing in Fort Dodge, Iowa. On June 7, 1953, MarvelAnn was united in marriage with Darrell Fryar in Rockwell City, Iowa. Their union was blessed with three children, Roxanne, Brian and Lynne. They made their home in Sac City where she was employed at the Auditor?s Office for a short time before deciding to stay home and care for her children. MarvelAnn?s life was dedicated to caring for children, babysitting for 35 years with children ranging from infant to school age and, for ten years, MarvelAnn and Darrell were foster parents to a variety of children needing special love and care. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading and playing games. Her greatest joys were times spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In September of 2007 the Fryar?s moved to Denison, Iowa and since March of this year she had resided at the Denison Care Center. MarvelAnn died Thursday evening, April 24, 2008, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed 74 years, 11 months and 10 days. MarvelAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Fern Goodwin and one daughter, Lynne Fryar. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of over 54 years, Darrell Fryar of Denison, two children and spouses, Roxanne and Pat O?Neill of O?Neill, Nebraska and Brian and Joan Fryar of Denison, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one brother, Gerald Goodwin and wife, Shirley of Rockwell City, Iowa, one sister, Janyce and husband, Louie Silva of Milliken, Colorado, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison with the Rev. Wayne Pfannkuch officiating assisted by John Everest. Music for the service was provided by Lindy Lapel singing "Angels Among Us" and "On Eagles Wings". Pallbearers included Jeremy Frank, Keri Fryar, Matt Frank, Amanda Lapel, Toni Weber, Robyn Throckmorton, Ryan Throckmorton and Robert Throckmorton. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City, Iowa. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements where online condolences may be directed to www.pfannebecker.com .
