Marvin Dale Campbell was born March 2, 1941 in Harlan, Iowa to Howard and Edna (Gawley) Campbell. He was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance. Marvin was confirmed at St. Rose of Lima in Denison, Iowa, where he remained a faithful member for 58 years. Marvin grew up on the family farm in Irwin and graduated from Irwin High School in 1958. He married Mary Kay Schaben in 1959 and to this union five children were born: Kimberly, Mark, Kent, Marsha, and Maimee.

Marvin worked at Farmland Foods for 41 years, smoking meats for them, a passion which carried over into his personal life. He loved cooking, grilling, and smoking meat for his family and friends. Marvin also farmed corn and beans for many years, working at Farmland during the day, then working in the field in the evenings. Marvin retired from Farmland Foods in 2000, giving him more time for some of his favorite hobbies. He loved going fishing and playing Euchre. Marvin was an excellent bowler and competed in large tournaments. He enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques. Over the years, Marvin was a referee for Little League and Flag Football. He was also a member of the Denison Volunteer Fire Department and volunteered to deliver meals for Meals on Wheels. Marvin was especially proud of his garden and what wasn’t used in his cooking and canning, he was always sure to share to family and friends.

Marvin passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska, attaining the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 4 days. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Edna Campbell.
