Mary Ann Frowick was born in O’Neill, Nebraska, April 14, 1936, the daughter of Merle Thomas and Edna M. Lingle Hickey. Raised in O’Neill, she was baptized at St. Patrick Catholic Church and graduated from St. Mary Academy. Following high school Mary Ann moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she attended a business college. She made her home in Des Moines where she was employed at India Ink Printing Company, SinClair and Valentine. After moving to Minnesota she was employed with Horton in St. Paul from which she retired. Following retirement she made her home in Farmington, Minnesota to be nearer her daughter. As a pet lover, much of her spare time was enjoying and caring for her dogs Chloe and Sophie. She will lovingly be remembered by her family as the best mom, mother-in-law and grandma ever and as her daughter Shari’s best friend. Mary Ann died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 75 years, 9 months and 7 days. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Edna Hickey, one sister, Marilyn Hickey and one brother-in-law, Steve DeWilde. Those remaining to cherish her memory include one daughter, Shari and husband, Dave Gerdes of Farmington, Minnesota, two grandchildren: Emily and Jacob Gerdes of Farmington, Minnesota; four siblings: twins Jean and husband, Rick Bilder of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jim Hickey and wife Marilyn of Garden, Michigan, Jerry Hickey and wife, Delores of Omaha, Nebraska, and Susan DeWilde of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison with Father Timothy Friedrichsen as Celebrant. Others participating in the mass included Servers: Cody Campbell and Austin Scheuring; Lector: Judy Brodersen; Gift Bearers: Jerry and Delores Hickey; and Eucharistic Ministers: Dorothy Leinen, Sharon Livingston, and Nora Millea. Music for the mass included St. Rose of Lima Adult Choir singing “Here I Am Lord”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Be Not Afraid”, and “Amazing Grace” with Jean Cornelius serving as organist. Pallbearers were: Dave Gerdes, Jacob Gerdes, Nic Torkelson, Jerry Hickey, Jim Hickey, and Scott Hickey. Interment was held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. Following the interment, family and friends were invited to Cronk’s Café for lunch and fellowship.
