Matthew Summers

Matthew Bernard Summers, son of Charlie and Judy Summers was born May 6, 1970 in Harlan, Iowa. He graduated from Harlan High School in 1988 and went on to get an associates degree from Iowa Western Community College in 1990.
Matt loved playing the guitar and was in the band Dead End with Gary Petersen and Jamie and Jason Burmeister while in High School. At one point they rented the Vets building for a concert. It was a huge success.
Matt and his Dad built a stock car together which Matt drove. He was awarded Honorary Rookie of the Year in 1991.
Matt enjoyed listening to music and getting laughs from his many caregivers at Little Flower Haven and Salem Luthern Home.
Matt died February 13, 2022 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of 51 years 9 months and seven days. He was preceded in death by his father Charlie Summers.
He is survived by his mom, Judy Summers of Harlan, IA; brother Charlie Summers of Harlan; nieces Carly Summers of Waukee, IA; Stacy (Mike) Christensen of Harlan; Emilee (Steven) Russell of Omaha, NE; great nieces and nephews: Avery Summers, Jude Russell, Braxton Bagby, Sadie Russell, Leo Houston, Mikey Christensen.
