Matthew Samual Widrowicz, son of Aaron Widrowicz and Dixie (Eckles) Widrowicz Rash, was born on April 25, 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia. When Matthew was at the age of two, his family moved to Iowa and made their home in Hancock and then Avoca. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hancock Methodist Church and attended AHST Schools in Shelby and Avoca graduating with the class of 2006.

After graduation, Matthew made his home in Laramie, Wyoming where he attended WYOTECH, an automotive technical school. Matthew then moved to Colorado where he worked as a welder and met the love of his life, Amanda Childs. Matthew and Amanda then made their home in Avoca where Matt worked at Oakland Foods in Oakland, Iowa until 2012. Matthew then worked for the Foutch Brothers helping remodel the Shelby School into apartments. Currently Matthew was working with Sean Lawler of Lawler Services out of Defiance, Iowa.

Matthew was a loving, free spirited and very respectful young man who had a huge heart. He was often described by family and friends as a person who always marched to the beat of his own drum. He loved exploring all of Mother Nature’s beauty and all of God’s creatures on this earth. He enjoyed spending hours outdoors hunting and fishing and just enjoying life.

Matthew died at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on August 1, 2014, having attained the age of twenty-six years, three months and seven days. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wayne Eckles and paternal grandparents, Susman and Leaja Widrowicz.

He is survived by his mother Dixie Widrowicz Rash and her husband Daryl, of Avoca, Iowa; father Aaron Widrowicz of Atlantic, Iowa; fiancé Amanda Childs of Avoca; brother Noah Widrowicz and his girlfriend Allison Schantz of Avoca; step-sister Angela and her husband Jon Wickware of Ankeny, Iowa; stepbrother Andrew Rash and his wife Holly of Humeston, Iowa; maternal grandmother Myrna Eckles of Atlantic; step grandparents John and Margaret Rash of Chariton, Iowa; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
