Maxine Langenfeld

Maxine Marie Langenfeld, 98, formally of Defiance and Johnston Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 27 at Rowley Masonic Home , in Perry Iowa.
Maxine was born in Defiance Iowa in 1922 and graduated from Central High School in Omaha Nebraska in 1939. She taught English in the Iowa school system for 46 years from 1944 until her retirement in 1990, the latter 20 years of which was at East High School in Des Moines. Maxine followed her years of teaching with a second career in Real Estate in the Des Moines area. In addition to her careers she spent time on the family farm of 102 years in Defiance Iowa, visiting with friends in Iowa and her family back east in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Maxine is survived by her niece Diane Dickson, of East Falmouth Massachusetts; her nephew Richard Dickson and his wife Lisa of Merrimack NH, three grandnephews Richard Dickson Jr., Jeffrey Dickson and Robert Dickson; her mother, the late Marie Schierbaum of Defiance Iowa, and her late sister Florence Dickson of East Falmouth Massachusetts.
A private family funeral will be held in Harlan Iowa. The Pauley Jones Funeral Home of Harlan is in charge of the arrangements.
