Melanie Lynn Scheuring was born on March 2nd, 1985 to Jim and Cindy Scheuring in Harlan, Iowa. She was the second of four children. Melanie attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Panama, Iowa and St. Joseph's Catholic School in Earling, Iowa for her primary schooling, before going on to Harlan Community High School in Harlan, Iowa, graduating in 2003. Growing up on a farm near Defiance, Iowa she was active in helping around the farm, was a member of 4-H and FFA, and took pride in showing a wide range of projects and livestock at county fairs.
After high school Melanie attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, graduating with an Associates of Arts Degree in 2005. She then moved to the Saint Louis metropolitan area in Missouri where she worked in banking while completing both her Bachelors of Business Administration and Masters of Business Administration at Missouri Baptist University. Having attained her educational goals Melanie lived in the Saint Louis area for over a decade working in various sectors of business from finance to human resources, and recruiting to management, each one providing her different experiences helping others reach their goals and potential. Melanie relocated to Des Moines area in 2015.
In her spare time Melanie enjoyed traveling to and visiting local curiosities wherever she was, visiting with friends old and new, walking, appreciating horses, and admiring the simple things in life. She will always be remembered by family and friends as a kind and caring person whose goal, be it personally or professionally, was to always help others reach their own. Melanie passed away on Sunday April 19th, 2020 at her home in Grimes, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Vernon and Genevieve Scheuring, and aunt Diane Koesters. Melanie is survived by her loving parents: Jim and Cindy Scheuring; sister: Melissa Wenthe; brothers Brandon (Basil) Scheuring and James Scheuring; two nephews Isaac Wenthe and Alaric Scheuring; niece Aubree Wenthe; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
