Melvin Martin

Melvin Ray Martin, son of Francis and Mary (Davis) Martin was born on January 31, 1948, in Persia, Iowa. He attended country school in Logan, Iowa until his family moved to Harlan, Iowa where he graduated from high school.
Melvin worked for the City of Harlan Sanitation Department in the water treatment plant for almost 40 years. He retired in 2010. Melvin was very handy and enjoyed working on cars or anything mechanical. He loved to build things, woodworking, remodeling and working on clocks. Melvin was the “go to” for family and friends if they were needing something fixed. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix nor no one he wouldn’t help.
Melvin was united in marriage to Katherine Morlan on August 13, 1990.
Melvin died on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age of seventy-five years, eleven months. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Marion Martin, Minnie Marco, and Merrill Martin.
He is survived by his wife Katherine Martin of Harlan, IA; children Julie (Rick) Martin of Harlan; Janet Martin of Harlan, IA; Annette Stolz; Jeremy (Jackie) Stolz Megan Stolz; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings Marvin Martin, Merlyn (Ruby) Martin, and Mary Lou (Don) Andersen all of Harlan, IA; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
