Michael "Mike" Finken lived an incredible life. He was born to Bob and Mary Finken on August 9, 1956, in Manning, Iowa. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Earling, Iowa, and graduated from Harlan High School with the Class of 1974.
After high school, he attended Iowa Western Community College and received his Electronics Technology Degree. From there he worked many places: Control Data in Omaha, Nebraska, Burroughs Corporation in Omaha and then transferred to Minneapolis where he met his future wife, Brenda Halvorsen. They both continued to work at Burroughs/Unisys and were married on May 4, 1991, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling. Michael continued to work at Unisys for twenty-five years before he went to Allianz Life and then Thomson-Reuters as a Storage Engineer-Team Lead. Through his career, the one thing his co-workers could say about him was that he was very passionate about his job.
Michael and Brenda were blessed with four boys: Isaac, John, Nicholas, and Tanner. Michael enjoyed taking the family on several vacations and the annual trip to Okoboji to be with the cousins. He attended a lot of the sporting events the kids participated in and he was always good for candy, he usually had some in his pocket to share. Michael also enjoyed shooting off rockets, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, and spent a lot of hours in the garage doing his woodwork. Michael was an active member of the community and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1741.
