Michael Elliot Wellman, son of David and Durinda (Lacy) Wellman, was born December 17, 1973 in Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 4 months old, Michael was diagnosed with menegitis, he was a fighter all his life. He attended IKM High School, graduating with the class of 1992.
Michael worked at Concerned, Inc. for over 25 years. When he was a patient for any illness, he would always listen to his nurses and loved joking with them, he was the perfect patient. When he was at home he wasn’t always a model patient though.
On October 15, 2016, Michael was united in marriage to Katie Elizabeth Gorz in Corley, Iowa. He had many loves in his life including the Nebraska Cornhuskers, he was a huge fan! He also loved watching WWE with his grandma Mabel, NASCAR, video games, music, TV shows: Dukes of Hazard and Chips. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing. Michael made many friends throughout the years and valued those relationships.
Michael died on Friday, August 7, 2020 at his home in Harlan, attaining the age of forty-six years, seven months, and twenty-one days. He was preceded in death by his father David Wellman.
He is survived by his wife Katie Wellman of Avoca, Iowa; mother Durinda Wellman of Harlan, Iowa; siblings Jason Wellman of Harlan; Michaela (Tim) Mikels of Harlan; nephew Masen Schmitz and niece Alivia Schmitz; other family members and many friends.
