Michelle "Shelli" Renae Mortensen

Michelle Renae Mortensen was born at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa, on March 5,1969. She was a tiny little girl weighing in at 3 1/2 lbs. Shelli was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan and made her first communion at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Avoca, IA. She attended Concerned in their little pink house at the age of 2 1/2 until school age. She then attended Shelby-Tennant School until 1990. As soon as she graduated, she said she was going to college. So she packed her clothes and moved in the Crest Home. She lived there until her passing. She attended Concerned Workshop and loved going there doing the many tasks asked of her.
Shelli was a spunky, energetic little lady. Always reading her WWF magazines, listening to music, watching WWF and working in her office. She loved her office work. Shelli had lots of friends and always knew you. She'd give you a big hug and if you talked to her for very long, you'd be her cousin. She loved music, dancing, and she loved to gamble. Dirty Dancing was her favorite movie. Her and her Dad went to Las Vegas every year for many, many years. She was in control of the map.
Shelli's best friends were Shelly and Paul Anton and their three girls. She was even in their wedding which made Shelli very happy and proud. Shelli was always so happy when they came to spend the day with her. She called Paul her coach. Shelli loved all the staff at Concerned and Crest Home. When she was in the hospital, all she wanted to do was to get back to her friends whom she loved so much.
Shelli passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Survivors include her parents Bob and Jan Mortensen of Council Bluffs, IA; her sister Jennifer Hall; aunts and uncles; other family members and many friends.
