Mikaela Mae Koch passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, in her father's arms, surrounded by her devoted family. She was just five years old but wise beyond her years.
Born on February 8, 2019, in Harlan, Iowa, Mikaela bravely battled a rare brain tumor since St. Patrick’s Day 2023, showing immense courage and strength. Despite her illness, she lived life to the fullest with the support of her loving parents, Michael and Ella (Carlson) Koch, and the help of many of their friends and family.
Mikaela was a joyful child with a radiant smile and beautiful eyes. She loved Quarter Horses, playing outdoors, and her rope and tire swings. Her favorite colors were pink, purple, and rainbow. She delighted in showing horses and making new friends at events, touching many hearts with her kindness and giggles.
Mikaela is deeply loved by all who met her and survived by her parents, Ella and Michael; Great-Grandmother, Nancy Koch; grandmothers, Rosalie Carlson and Anne Freeman; Grandpa Dave Koch; Aunt Sarah Bonar; Uncle Aaron Carlson; and cousins, Luke, Aiden, and Adelaide Bonar. She is welcomed in heaven by her Grandpa, James Carlson, and Great-Grandparents Howard & Barbara Dahlof and Albert & Mabel Carlson.
Mikaela will forever remain in our hearts.
Services will be held in her honor at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. If you would like to honor Mikaela's memory, the family invites you to wear her favorite colors - Pink, Purple and Rainbow - for her services.
