Mylene Elaine Riley was born on August 13, 1948, to David and Abbie (Erickson) Graham in Laurel, Nebraska. She graduated from Walnut High School with the Class of 1966. She went on to Barnes Beauty School of Cosmetology and worked in salons in Red Oak, Shenandoah, and Atlantic. Mylene also worked for a short time at the Carstop Mini Mart near the interstate before obtaining her Commercial Driver�s License and becoming an over the road truck driver.
In 1993, she became employed at Mahle Engine Components in Atlantic, Iowa, as the Electroplating Inspector for automotive bearings.
On February 13, 1998, she was united in marriage to Ken Riley at Rutherford, Trewet, and Knuth Law Office in Atlantic, Iowa. She inherited three children on that day: Kenny, Justin, and Jessica.
Mylene enjoyed gardening and doing crossword puzzles. She was an M & M collector and found out it was much harder to get the green lady M & M than any of the others. She started collecting with the Willie and Millie penguin salt and pepper shakers that she received from her mother. She ended up with over 500 pieces in her collection. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mylene died unexpectedly on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa, having attained the age of sixty-two years, five months, and twenty-five days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Ken Riley of Walnut, Iowa; step-children Kenny Riley, Justin Riley, and Jessica Riley all of Des Moines, Iowa; one grandchild, Ashlynn Raine Riley; sister Ronda Larimore of Boone, Iowa; brother Alan Graham and his wife Janet of Avoca, Iowa; other family members and many friends.
Rev. Merlene Ostebee officiated the 1:30 PM funeral service at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, Iowa, on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Stuart Weihler, Justin Riley, Peyton Weihler, Aaron Holtz, Kenny Riley, and Ryan Graham. Inurnment will be at the Coleridge Cemetery in Coleridge, Nebraska at a later date.
