Nadine Lavonne Campbell, daughter of Harry A.P. Petersen and Helen (Barkman) Petersen was born on December 3, 1927 in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended Center Township #1 Country School and graduated from Harlan High School in 1946. Nadine received her teaching certificate and taught for 2 years at Polk Township #7 Country School.
On June 18, 1947 she was united in marriage to George Keith Campbell at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Iowa. She worked at Cozy Café for EK and Blanche Rossean. She then went to work as a bookkeeper for J&D Motors for 5 years and Red’s Café for 17 years. In September of 1980, Nadine started working for 4th Generation, retiring in 1993.
Nadine and Keith loved to travel. They visited 49 out of the 50 states, Maine being the only one they missed. They even made it to Canada! Along with traveling, she also enjoyed water aerobics, she attended classes from 1996 to 2017. Nadine loved dogs, horses, and birds. Her rice krispie bars were famous to her family. Nadine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Nadine died on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Elm Crest Retirement Home in Harlan attaining the age of ninety-three years five months and five days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Keith Campbell, brother Harry Petersen Jr. and grandson Shane Campbell.
She is survived by her children Marcia (Monte) Hansen of Kirkman, Iowa; Darwin (Connie) Campbell of Harlan, Iowa; 3 grandchildren; Travis Campbell, Angela Sieck, and Brianne Clay; 7 great grandchildren; Anna Campbell, Jay Campbell, Elizabeth Campbell, Charlie Sieck, Devon Campbell, Cora Clay and Carter Clay; siblings Charlotte Andersen of Harlan, Iowa and Arlo Petersen of Harlan, Iowa; brothers-in-law Victor Campbell of Lady of Lakes, Florida; Russell Campbell of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
