Nicholas "Nick" Heese

Nicholas “Nick” George Heese, son of Charles and Wilhelmina (Langenfeld) Heese, was born on May 4, 1925 on a farm near Earling, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling and attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
On January 19, 1949, Nick was united in marriage to Mildred Marie Kramer at St. Joseph’s in Earling. Eight children were born to this union: Janice, Diane, Norma, Barb, Marilyn, Sharon, Ron and Lois.
Nick farmed his entire life with Mildred and the kids helping at his side. Nick retired from farming in 1984 and moved from their farm, which was north and west of Panama, into Earling. They enjoyed dancing, especially Polkas while listening to the Jolly Home Brewers. Nick also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with his friends and family and grandchildren. He always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh.
After the death of Mildred in January of 2011, Nick continued to make his home in Earling. Due to his health, Nick was admitted into the Hospice Unit at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa and this is where he died on January 12, 2014 having attained the age of eighty-eight years, eight months and eight days. In addition to his parents and wife Mildred, Nick was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Reischl and Irma Sullivan.
He is survived by his children: Janice and her husband David Williams of Carroll, Iowa, Diane and her husband Ron Willenborg of Carroll, Norma Crocker of Papillion, Nebraska, Barb and her husband Gene Rice of Crescent, Iowa, Marilyn and her husband Bill Nicolosi of Yukon, Oklahoma, Sharon and her husband James Ward of Earling, Iowa, Ron Heese and his wife Janet of Earling, and Lois Ratay of Papillion; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; his sister, Sr. Leta Heese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his brothers Bernard Heese and Vincent Heese both of Earling; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rev. Thomas Dooley celebrated the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa. Music was provided by Tyler Gubbels. Honorary casket bearers were Monica Kimball, Matthew Kimball, Tracie Sehnert, Brad Williams, Jason Williams, Ashley Ratay, Amy Light, Holly Nicolosi, Tony Kimball, Mallory Braby, Jamid Braby, Danielle Rice, Julie Rickers, Brian Ward, Eric Nicolosi, Nikki Ratay, and Dana Rice. Serving as casket bearers were Jared Williams, Brad Williams, Tristan Heese, Taylor Heese, Cody Rice, Julie Rickers, Kelsey Heese, and Dustin Ward. Interment was held in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earling.
