Nola J. Lund
August 12, 1946 — August 9, 2013
Nola Jane Lund was born on August 12, 1946 to Wayne and Alyce Mae (Doonan) Lund in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized at the Methodist Church and attended school at Center Township No. 5 through the sixth grade. Nola graduated from Harlan High School with the Class of 1964.
During high school she worked at E. M. Christensen Auto company. After graduation, she started employment with Wilson Hybrid Seed Corn Company which later became Remington Seeds. She was in her forty-fifth year of employment when she was hurt and had to retire.
After her injury in 2009, she became a resident of Salem Nursing Home in Elk Horn, Iowa where she lived for three and a half years. She was admitted to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska where she died on Friday, August 9, 2013 having attained the age of sixty-six years, eleven months, and twenty-eight days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nola is survived by her brother Dar Lund of Harlan, Iowa; nieces: Tina and her husband Kirk Dekker of Sheldon, Iowa, Shelli Lund of Claremont, Minnesota, and Amy and her husband Derek Genck of Clarksville, Tennessee; great-nieces and nephew: Kourtney Dekker, Peyton Dekker, Kieley Genck, Emi Genck, and Bentley Genck; other family members, and many friends.
Pastor Donna Ewert officiated the 2:00 PM funeral service on August 14, 2013 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Peggy Doonan accompanied Jim Zea. Serving as honorary casket bearers were Richard and Julienne Ferry, Charlie and Twyla Grabill, Marlene and Duane Christensen, and Paul and Luann Petersen. Serving as casket bearers were Mike Thraen, Wade Jensen, Brian Kock, Brian Kjergaard, Galen Grabill, Lynn Heimerman, Jerry Lambert, and Art Andersen. Interment was held at Harlan Cemetery.
