Nora Mardelle Schechinger

Nora was born on November 12, 2017 at thirty weeks pregnancy at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was ten weeks premature and weighed 2 pounds 4 ounces. When she was 5 days old she was transferred to Children’s Hospital and underwent intestinal surgery two days later. Then doctors discovered a coarctation, a heart defect which would require surgery. As she grew stronger each day and with the prayers of many loved ones her little heart was able to correct itself on its own and no surgery was necessary. She proceeded to improve in health and gain a little weight each day over the next couple weeks.

On December 9, at 2:00 PM, Nora developed a sudden intestinal infection that spread very rapidly through her body. Nora was baptized by the hospital minister in the minutes preceding her death. She passed at 3:40 PM in her parents loving arms.

Nora was small but mighty and very beautiful. She was very much adored by all the nurses and doctors who cared for her. Nora touched the hearts of many in her short stay here on Earth. She will hold a special place in the hearts of her mom and dad, siblings Grahm and Gretta. We love you Nora, and know you will be our guardian angel.

Nora also leaves to cherish her memory, her maternal grandparents Gary and Becki Petersen of Muscatine, Iowa; paternal grandparents Robert and Norene Schechinger of Panama, Iowa; many aunts and uncles; cousins; other family members and friends.
