Norbert Francis Kloewer was born on November 7, 1927 to Antone and Elizabeth (Bock) Kloewer in Westphalia, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in at the church in Westphalia, Iowa. Norbert attended school in Westphalia until 8th grade, after he stayed home to help farm.
On May 18, 1954 Norbert was united in marriage to Patricia Cunningham in Westphalia, Iowa. They became parents to seven children: Kathy, Carol, Jerry, Connie, Tony, Doug, and Kristi.
Nub farmed for 30 years then started operating the Beer Barn in Kirkman, Iowa. He owned the bar/restaurant for 22 years then retired in 2006. Since then Pat and Nub have resided in Harlan, Iowa where they have been members of St. Michael’s Parish since 2007. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and liked to play cards. Nub also enjoyed being the score keeper for the town teams baseball league in Westphalia.
Nub died on June 19, 2014 in Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 12 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jerry, sisters Agnes and Bernice, and brother Walter.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of Harlan, Iowa; children: Kathy and her husband Steve Plumb of Harlan, Iowa, Carol and her husband Roger Erb of Harlan, Iowa, Connie and her husband Larry Knudson of Omaha, Nebraska, Tony Kloewer of Harlan, Iowa, Doug Kloewer and his wife Lora of Harlan, Iowa, and Kristi and her husband Dory Nielsen of Harlan, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Leona “Jonsey” Klein of Westphalia, Iowa, Leo “Spike” and his wife Alice of Harlan, Iowa, and Betty Specht of Westphalia, Iowa.
