Norlene Kuhlmann, 92, of Denison, Iowa passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa. Norlene Caroline Kuhlmann was born on July 18, 1923 near Mapleton, Iowa to Edward P. and Edna (Sievers) Eckhoff. She received her early education in the country school near her home. She later attended St. John’s Lutheran School and Charter Oak Public School. Norlene was united in marriage to Alfred Kuhlmann on February 24, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. They farmed the family farm raising three children: Randall, Debra and Daniel. Norlene was a stay at home farm wife and in her later years enjoyed going to see her daughter Debra in Colorado. Norlene lived on the family farm until November 1, 2015, and then lived at Eventide until her death. Survivors include son Randall (Dolores) Kuhlmann of Denison, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Debra Kuhlmann of Charter Oak, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; twin sister, Arlene Kennedy of Roseburg, Oregon; sister, Marilyn Johnson of Thousand Oaks, California and brother, Al (Linda) Eckhoff of Henderson, Nevada; nieces, nephews and cousins. Norlene was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Edna (Sievers) Eckhoff; her husband Alfred who passed away on April 8, 1985; 3 brothers: Leonard, LeRoy and Edward Eckhoff; daughter, Debra Kapustensky and son, Daniel Kuhlmann. A private family graveside burial will be conducted later. There is no visitation.
