Norma Arlene Bladt, daughter of B. Carl Christian and Magda Sophie (Moelck) Petersen, was born on September 9, 1925 near Avoca, Iowa. She attended grade school at a country school outside of Avoca and later graduated from Avoca High School.

On February 5, 1947, Norma was united in marriage to Willis Linn Bladt at the Minden Lutheran Church in Minden, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Sharon Kaye, Dennis Lynn and Julie Ann.

Norma and Willis raised their children on the family farm outside of Avoca where she was active in the Wednesday Card Club, coffee clubs, garden club and doing needle work and word finds in her spare time. Norma was a 4-H leader and loved wind chimes and hummingbirds. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who always made time for family. She was a long time and active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and order of the Eastern Star both of Avoca.

Norma died on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, having attained the age eighty-eight years, eleven months and thirteen days. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband Willis, daughter Sharon, brothers Elmer Schmitt and Kenneth Petersen, sisters Ester Armstrong and Betty Jean McCool, and in-laws: Bud Bladt, and Pauline Bladt.

She is survived by her son Dennis Lynn Bladt of Avoca and daughter, Julie Ann Wade and her significant other Bruce Arp; grandson Anthony Wade and his fiancé Jessi Kott of Avoca; her niece that she helped raise, Linda and her husband Rodney Polacek of Shelby, Iowa; her great nephews and niece: Lance Buck and his fiancé Melinda Broadstreet of Portsmouth, Iowa; Paul Polacek of San Jose, California and Jani and her husband Louis Ring of Shelby, Iowa; great-great niece and nephew Summer Jones and Joseph Buck both of Shelby; in-laws: Betty Bladt of Avoca; Donald Bladt of Shelby; Mildred Petersen of Parkersburg, Iowa; Marvin McCool and his wife Elizabeth of Atlantic, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
