Patrick Edwin Stoll was born January 9, 1943, at Denison, Iowa, the son of Edwin William Stoll and Irene Grace Hassett Stoll. He was raised in Denison with most of his elementary school years attending St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and graduating from Denison High School with the class of 1961. Pat was working in Denison after graduation and had just been accepted to Northwest Missouri State College when he was drafted into the Army. His military years were all spent in Germany and he could tell many stories about chauffeuring a colonel as one of his duties. Pat was discharged from the Army in 1966 and returned to Denison and began working for the Iowa DOT. He married Marilyn McCaffrey on February 25, 1967 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manilla, Iowa, and this union was blessed with four children: Eric, Ryan, Leah and Nathan. In 1974 Pat started working for the City of Denison as Building Inspector, but in 1977 he moved to the Denison Municipal Utilities as Assistant General Manager. He remained there for 31 years and retired in 2008. Truly an outdoorsman, Pat was a great lover of nature. His life was full of camping, fishing, hunting, and traveling adventures. He also spent many hours boating on the river with his family. He coached the Little League Angels team while his sons were playing and was also their Cub Scout Leader and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Pat loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. They all claim he could fix “anything” and could always be depended on. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Pat died at his home on the evening of September 6, 2014. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 71 years, 7 months and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marilyn Stoll of Denison, Iowa; 4 children: Eric and wife Jody Stoll of Milford, Iowa; Ryan and wife Heidi Stoll of Muscatine, Iowa; Leah Stoll of Omaha, Nebraska; and Nathan and wife Bellamy Stoll of New York, New York; 6 grandchildren: Alex, Ella, Skye, Sage, Hunter, and Liam; brothers and sisters: Barbara Waterman of Salem, North Dakota; Larry Stoll of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Sally and husband Benny Brown of Alma, Arkansas; Gale and husband Harlan Highberg of Bagley, Minnesota; Terry Stoll of Avoca, Iowa; and Suzie and husband John Smejkal of Denison, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
