Patricia Rose Jensen

Patricia Rose Jensen was the only child of Joseph and Hazel (Freeman) Donahue. She was born on September 15, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowa and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avoca, Iowa where she remained a member for the rest of her life. She attended grade school and high school in Avoca, Iowa graduating with the class of 1947.
Patricia married Eldon Edward Jensen on October 2, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avoca, Iowa. They were blessed with five children: Susan, Rick, Mark, Jack, and Michael. Faith and family were the most important aspects of Patricia’s life.
Patricia had many different jobs outside the home. Her favorite was working for Dr. Crane at the Shelby Medical Clinic. She also enjoyed her time as a teller for Farmers Savings Bank in Shelby, Iowa.
She enjoyed life and one of her greatest pleasures was playing with her ten grandchildren and attending their many activities. She enjoyed playing cards, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and reading her newspapers. She treasured the friendships she made through bowling, and her yearly fishing trips to Minnesota. For over twenty years she looked forward to morning coffee at the Cornstalk. She participated in many card clubs and was a member of the Shelby Friendship Club. She always remembered to send a card to family and friends on special occasions.
Patricia, 86, died in her home on Monday, November 23, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Hazel Donahue, and husband Eldon Jensen.
She is survived by her children: Susan and her husband Dr. Craig Welbourne of Western Springs, Illinois; Rick Jensen and his wife Monica of Omaha, Nebraska; Mark Jensen and his wife Kathy of Shelby, Iowa; Jack Jensen and his wife Paula of Independence, Missouri; Michael Jensen and his wife Janice of Cary, North Carolina; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and other dear friends.
