Patricia A. Morgan was born on November 16, 1927 in Iowa City, Iowa, to George and Ruth (Petersen) Andersen. She attended the Harlan schools and earned her nursing degree from Clarkson School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1948. She worked as a nurse at Clarkson Hospital for a short time before her marriage to Dr. Francis William Morgan in 1950.
In 1952, they moved to Ottumwa, Iowa, where her husband established his OB-GYN practice. Pat worked at the Wapello County Public Health Department, retiring as Supervisor of the department in 1993.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Chapter G, ORHC Auxiliary and was a founding board member of Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties. She was active in PTO, as a Girl Scout Leader and in her children's swim team activities. Pat was a wonderful baker, having been known for her Christmas cookies and brownies. She enjoyed walking, gardening and traveling around the country, spending time each year in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
Pat died on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa at the age of eighty-eight years, four months, and twenty-three days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, son Bruce, brothers Dewey and George Andersen, sister Ellamarie Olmstead, and son-in-law John Hevey.
She is survived by her daughter Janet Morgan Hevey of Marshfield, Massachusetts; two grandsons: Erin and Brett Hevey also of Marshfield; two step-granddaughters: Kristen Hevey and Cheryl Stibel; four great-grandchildren: Lila and Cecelia Abbott and Dennett and Lincoln Stibel; sister Mary and her husband Dick Woodford of Lake Ozark, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
