Paul Allyn Freeman was born in Ellensburg, Washington on October 1, 1971. He was the son of Nolan and Barbara (Smith) Freeman. He attended Kittitas Elementary school in Washington and then his family moved to the Avoca, Iowa area when he was in the fourth grade. He then became a student in the AvoHa school system graduating with the class of 1990. Following high school he attended Iowa Western Community College for two years.
Paul was united in marriage to Michelle Sarine Wheatley on February 7, 1998 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. Paul was an employee of Olesen Chevrolet-Olds for nearly nine years and was currently working for Pottawattamie County in the Secondary Roads division. He was an EMT with the Avoca Fire and Rescue for nearly ten years.
Paul enjoyed many hobbies such as camping, hunting, riding his Harley, tractor pulling, spending time with family and friends, vacationing, the Kansas City Chiefs football team, Nascar, and being a big Dale Earnhardt and Junior fan. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Avoca, where he was baptized and confirmed.
Paul died on Friday June 20, 2008 as the result of a car accident. He had attained the age of thirty six years, eight months and nineteen days.
He is survived by his wife Michelle of Avoca, his daughter Courtney and his infant son who is due to be born on August 12, 2008; his mother Barbara and her husband Dallas Popp of Avoca; his father Nolan Freeman and his wife Ludy of Marysville, Washington; two brothers: Ed Freeman of Minden, Iowa and Jason Engle of Shelby, Iowa; his sister Amy and her husband Wes Parker of Avoca; grandfather Ralph Freeman, Sr and his wife Mary of Kallispell, Montana; Aunts and Uncles: Leslie (Bernie) Richard of LoLo, Montana; John Smith of Ellensburg, Washington; David (Jan) Freeman of Coeur d�Alene, Idaho; Mel (DeDe) Freeman of Spokane, Washington; Valerie (Leroy) Miller of Elko, Nevada and Jolene (Mike) Olson of Gillette, Wyoming; father-in-law Don Wheatley and his wife Cindy of Shelby; mother-in-law Lori and her husband Mike Sampson of Avoca; nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa with Pastor Dennis Reich officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca. Those serving as honorary casket bearers were Ed Freeman, Jason Engle, Kevin Wheatley, Rick West, Dennis West, Wes Parker and Brian Snyder. Casket bearers were Chad Rhamy, Robb Johnson (currently serving in Iraq), Greg Roush, Kevin Cordes, Doug Engel, Derek Knop, Eric Nelson, Dave Weirich and Travis Christian.
