Paul A Pauley was born on February 28, 1930, the son of Harold Carl and Lucile Aileen DeOgny Pauley, in Beatrice, Nebraska. The family moved to Harlan, Iowa in 1931. Paul graduated from Harlan High School in 1948. He lettered in three sports. He attended the University of Iowa for a year.
Paul married Margaret Luella Scott on March 21, 1950. They lived on a farm near Fiscus, Iowa. Two years later, they bought the farm near Harlan. Paul and Margaret were active charter members of the First Baptist Church, which was started in 1958. Paul and Margaret had four daughters, Nan, Susan, LeAnn, and Beth. In 1960, he began his real estate and land development career. He also became an auctioneer after attending and graduating from the Repperts School of Auctioneering in Decatur, Indiana. Paul and Patti were a part of building a new Baptist church in San Isidro, Texas.
He loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also enjoyed going to garage sales, building his cactus garden on the ranch, but his favorite thing to do has always been spending time with family and friends. Paul enjoyed taking his thirteen grandchildren on a world trip of their choice. Over the years, Paul held many titles and successful careers. He helped his father in both the furniture store and funeral home, was a farmer, real estate and securities broker, beekeeper, pilot, world traveler, entrepreneur, Sunday School teacher, deacon, trustee at Judson University, land developer, and president of the Harlan Historical Society.
