Pearl Alvina Peterson was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin on April 17, 1926 to Joseph and Gladys (Melby) Erickson. She grew up in Wisconsin and later moved to Kasson, Minnesota where she met Harold Peterson. They married August 12, 1949 at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in Kasson.
Pearl was a nurse�s assistant at Colonial Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota and North Memorial Hospital while her husband attended college and seminary. She made homes in Letcher, South Dakota, Lake Mills, Iowa, and Avoca, Iowa while Harold served as pastor in the Lutheran churches.
Pearl worked for 16 years at Concerned Incorporated in Harlan, Iowa. She loved children and taught Bible school, Sunday school and served as Bible Study group leader. She served two terms on the Evangelism Committee of the United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas and was chairperson for the Women of the Church.
Pearl lived boldly to the age of eighty-five years, nine months and twenty-seven days when on Monday, February 13, 2012 she peacefully departed amid snowflakes at 12:38 a.m. in the company of her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, the Rev. Harold Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Peterson Kohlscheen; grandson Brennan Boulton; sister Dorothy Ann Een; brother Delbert Erickson; and brother Jay Erickson.
She is survived by her husband Harold of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her children: Stephen Peterson of Arvada, Colorado, Julia Boulton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joy and husband Britt Rendon of Bella Vista and Lisa and husband Andrew Willett of Avoca, Iowa; eleven grandchildren: Alethea Kohlscheen Williams, Noah Peterson, Sierra Peterson, Jenna Peterson, Tory Boulton, Lucas Boulton, Jasmine Rendon, Holly Rendon, Dylan Rendon, Russell Willett, and Brent Willett; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, Ryan Huggins, other extended family and a host of relatives and friends.
Pearl loved the Lord, her family and friends, and every one she ever met.
Funeral services were held in Bella Vista, Arkansas at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at United Lutheran Church with Pastor Darrel Johnson officiating and at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa with Pastor Arlyn Norris and Wayne Paulsen officiating. Burial was held at Graceland Cemetery in Avoca, Iowa with Pearl�s grandchildren serving as casket bearers.
