Peter F. McAlpin, 71, of Park Rapids, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was born May 11, 1936, in Coronado, California to Gladys (Templer) and Vincent McAlpin. He was raised in Southern California, attending school there and graduating from college in Santa Monica, California. As a building contractor he began working with large commercial developers, traveling to various parts of the country to supervise projects. Upon returning to the Los Angeles area he formed his own company and developed may buildings there, as well as several hydro-electric plants in central and northern California. Prior to his retirement in Park Rapids, he worked with IBM Disaster Recovery Division which took him to many sites both in and out of the continental United States. 1990 he purchased a home in Park Rapids which he developed into the Red Bridge Inn Bed and Breakfast which he operated until his retirement. He was an avid car collector and enjoyed working on his Model A?s, taking his grandchildren for tours and driving in parades. Peter attended St. Peter?s Catholic Church in Park Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his son, Patrick. Peter is survived by his children; Laurie, Kelly, Michael, Colleen, Tim (Gina) and Julie, all of California; stepchildren; Jeff (Karen) Naeve, Kirsten (John) Kisner of Park Rapids, and Tim (Cori) Naeve of California, a sister, Jerri Walker of California and his life partner and best friend, Kay Naeve. He also leaves many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
