Rachel Caroline Anderson Lilleholm was born on a farm in Goodrich Township, near Deloit, Iowa, October 16, 1915, the daughter of Samuel and Tabitha Winey Anderson. She was raised on the farm and graduated from the Deloit High School with the class of 1933. On October 27, 1945, Rachel was united in marriage with Richard Blaine Lilleholm at the Methodist Parsonage in Carroll, Iowa. They made their home on the family farm in Goodrich Township northeast of Denison until retiring and moving to Denison in 1981. Blaine died February 3, 1986 and Rachel continued to reside in Denison. In 1997 Rachel moved to the Denison Care Center in Denison where her death occurred Wednesday afternoon, January 23, 2008. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 92 years, 3 months and 7 days. Until it?s closing, Rachel was a member of the Deloit United Methodist Church where she was a member of their Ladies Aid and was a first grade Sunday School Teacher. She was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison. Including her parents, Samuel and Tabitha Anderson and her husband, Blaine, Rachel was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin, Marvin, James and Robert Anderson and one sister, Evelyn Monk. Those remaining to cherish her memory include three nieces, Jamie Lou Lynch of Edwardsville, Illinois, Beverly and Martin Vollmer of Waverly, Iowa, Gail and Robert Stephenson of Clute, Texas, one nephew, Craig and Joan Anderson of Friendswood, Texas, special friends, Arlo and Julie Schwanz of Denison, two sisters-in-law, Alvina Schiernbeck of Vail and Faye and husband, Francis Clark of Denison, nieces and nephews-in-law, Donna and Donavon Sonnichsen, Diana and Mark Maulsby, Dorothy and Lonny Popp, and Delores and Steve Magnuson of Denison, Dale and Kim Lilleholm of Wauseon, Ohio, Randy and Mary Lilleholm of Denison, Earlene Rider of Arnold, Missouri, Zelda and Jack McDuff of Milford, Delaware, Vonice Darling of Omaha, Darrell and Monica Darling of Pleasanton, California, Dixie and Tim Thompson of Greenville, Florida, Terrill Clements of Seattle, Washington, Mark Clements of Greenville, Florida, Kenneth Clements of Omaha and Jerry and Lois Lilleholm of Lincoln, Nebraska, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Music for the service was provided by Eldon Hardekopf singing "In The Garden" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" with Nancy Miles serving as organist. Pallbearers included Arlo Schwanz, Ernest Poggensee, Louis Poggensee, Richard Holihan, Wendell Argotsinger and William Neumann. Interment was at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Following the services all were invited to return to the church for a time of fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the First United Methodist Women.
